Join us for an afternoon centered on Small Town Missouri. A gathering that honors local voice, lived experience, and the quiet power of place.
This event begins with an intimate writer salon, followed by an open author signing.
The salon is a conversation-driven experience designed for writers, readers, and anyone shaped by where they come from. Together, we’ll explore place-based storytelling, memory, and how landscape and community influence the stories we tell. This is a thoughtful, guided dialogue meant to feel human and unhurried. Following the salon, the space opens for a public author signing, welcoming anyone who wants to stop by, meet the author, and have their copy of Small Town Missouri signed.

Small towns have always fascinated people. They are portrayed in a myriad of ways in the media and on our screens, but they’re not often portrayed accurately, or at least not with the “whole story.” Small Town Missouri aims to inspire readers to dig deeper by discovering small town stories for themselves. Now more than ever, we need to emphasize the importance of building a “sense of place” and place attachment. It is often said that the more a person feels a sense of attachment to a place, the more they want to contribute to its well being. Exploring and celebrating these communities help build that attachment by educating about and representing small town Missouri, and by extension, small town America. On one hand, the tourist might pick up this book to find their next weekend getaway, but on the other, a local resident could pick up this book, see their town represented, and feel a sense of pride.

Caitlin Yager is a lifelong Missourian who is thrilled to spend most of her time traveling across the state and is always inspired by the passionate people and unique places that make Missouri so special. Her debut book, Small Town Missouri, invites you to discover for yourself what the often overlooked small communities in the Show Me State have to offer. Caitlin will talk about her book and the discoveries she made while writing it. Books will be available for purchase and signing by the author.
